Campsites near the Royal Isle of Wight County Show

The Royal Isle of Wight County Show is on Saturday 10 and Sunday 11 July 2027 at the County Showground on Cowes Road, Northwood, halfway between Newport and Cowes. The show has no camping of its own, but the campsites and glamping sites around Northwood are 25 to 30 minutes' walk from the gate.

Book early for 2027. The Round the Island Race is on Saturday 10 July 2027, the same day as the show's opening, and starts off Cowes, so the sites on this side of the Island will be busy with sailors and spectators that weekend too.

Tickets, times and what to expect

In 2026 the show opened from 10am to 5pm on Saturday and 9.30am to 4pm on Sunday. An adult day ticket was £16 and a weekend ticket £25, and children under 16 go free with a paying adult. Tickets are cheaper bought in advance online. A weekend ticket is the better buy if you're camping nearby for both days.

There are no cash machines on the showground. Most exhibitors take cards, and the nearest cash points are in Cowes and Newport. The showground is a working field, so it can be bumpy and muddy after rain: bring boots if the forecast is wet. Dogs are welcome on a lead but not in the food areas.

Walking, the bus and parking

Southern Vectis route 1 between Newport and Cowes passes the showground gate and runs about every 10 minutes in the daytime, so any campsite near Cowes or Newport works without a car. From Northwood it is easier to walk: the Ark Park, Tiny Homes Holidays and Comforts Farm are all within about 2 km of the showground.

If you do drive, parking in the show field is free, and there is disabled parking with a dedicated viewing area around the Main Ring. The Red Jet from Southampton lands in West Cowes, and the route 1 runs from there past the showground to Newport. See campsites near the Red Jet.

Making a weekend of it

Cowes is about 10 minutes away on the route 1, and on race day the start of the Round the Island Race can be watched from the Green and the Parade from early morning, before the show gates open. Osborne House in East Cowes is a short trip across the Medina on the chain ferry. Our coastal path page covers the walk west from Cowes along the Solent shore to Gurnard.
