Comforts Farm at Northwood is the easiest base, with a shower block, a pub a few minutes away, and about 30 minutes' walk to the gate. Pigsty Farm off Little Whitehouse Road is wilder: big 10m by 10m pitches in a sheltered meadow, compost loos and a hot shower, with cars left in a parking area away from the tents. Its traffic-free path runs through the woods towards Newport one way and to Thorness Bay the other. Book both early, because the Round the Island Race fills Cowes on the show's first day in 2027.
If you would rather not walk, the route 1 bus between Newport and Cowes passes the showground about every 10 minutes in the daytime. The Isle of Wight Festival campsite appears on this list, but it only opens for the festival in June. Our guide to camping without a car covers buses from the ferry.
