Four Lakes Retreat is a small, family-run collection of hand-built lodges on a former lavender farm off Staplers Road, on the north-east side of Newport. The 15-acre site has four man-made lakes, three of them stocked for fishing, plus wildflower meadows planted for bees and birds.
Each lodge, named 'In One' to 'In Five', sits in its own garden at the water's edge, with decking, a barbecue and a fire pit; most have a wood-fired hot tub, and the largest adds an outdoor kitchen, pizza oven and outdoor bath. Towels, toiletries and starter logs and charcoal are provided, and there is an honesty shop for more. Pets are not allowed, to protect the bird life.
