- Near beach
Heathfield sits on nine acres of former farmland on the northern edge of Freshwater, about two miles from the Yarmouth ferry. The ground is very level and the 81 marked pitches are generous, most of them with 16 amp hook-up. A handful of Premier View pitches look out over the Solent towards Hurst Castle, and five larger pitches suit big family tents. It takes tents, touring caravans and motorhomes, but has no static caravans or glamping.
Native trees and hedges planted over the years shelter most pitches and attract birds and the odd red squirrel. A wildflower meadow is set aside for exercising dogs, and a separate playing field has two communal barbecue areas with picnic tables. The amenity blocks are known for being spotless and include a large accessible shower room, laundry and dishwashing area.
There is no shop or cafe on site, but Freshwater village with its shops and pubs is under a mile away and buses stop at the entrance. It runs a short summer season and is a quiet, rule-led site: no fire pits, no single-sex groups and no vehicle movement late at night.
