Island Riding Centre on Staplers Road, on the edge of Newport, is the island's big equestrian centre and also lets cottages and a small safari camp. The camp is a gated field of five named safari tents (Apache, Dollar, Trojan, Trigger and Gaucho) surrounded by paddocks of grazing horses.

Each tent sleeps up to eight, with a king bed and bunks in separate bedrooms, a lounge with sofas, electric lighting and sockets, a gas hob and fridge, two private shower rooms, lockable doors and a deck with a dining table. There is a shared washing-up tent, a communal fire pit and a wood-fired pizza oven, and the centre's café and children's play area are close by.

Guests can book riding lessons, hacks and beach rides (book ahead in the holidays), there is livery if you want to bring your own horse, and the camp can be hired exclusively for larger group get-togethers. The no. 9 Newport-Ryde bus stops outside.
