Pigsty Farm
Off-grid summer meadow camping on a small therapy farm between Newport and Thorness Bay, with compost loos, a hot shower and big tent pitches.
See all 4 photos- Dogs welcome
Pigsty Farm is a small working therapy farm off Little Whitehouse Road, north-west of Newport, set up to support military veterans and disadvantaged children. Each summer it opens a tree-sheltered meadow to tent campers, with a handful of large grass pitches well back from the road and views over farmland towards Parkhurst Forest.
It is close to wild camping: no hook-ups, cars left in a parking area rather than on the pitch, water taps around the field, composting toilets and a shower. A traffic-free path runs one way to Thorness Bay on the Solent (around 45 minutes on foot) and the other through the woods to Newport. There is no reception; the owner meets guests by arrangement, and farm animals can be seen but not fed.
- Big 10m x 10m tent pitches in a sheltered meadow
- Footpath to Thorness Bay beach
- Supports a veterans' and children's therapy farm
- Two dogs per pitch included
