Simple family farm site in a downland valley a quarter-mile from Compton Bay, with a row of meadow pitches and a dozen static caravans.

Compton Farm is a beef and arable farm on the Military Road between Freshwater Bay and Brook, tucked into a chalk valley on National Trust land with SSSI status. The camping field is level and well drained, with generously sized pitches marked out in a single line along a hedge, all facing an 18-acre wildflower meadow where children can run about. There are no electric hook-ups, so it suits tents and self-sufficient vans best.

Compton Bay, one of the island's best sandy beaches and a favourite surf spot, is roughly a quarter of a mile away, and the downs above the farm are known for orchids and rare butterflies. Facilities are kept simple: toilets, coin-operated showers, washing-up sinks, a small laundry and free ice-pack freezing. The farm also lets 12 static caravans in a fold of the downs, some of which accept dogs, and Island Bell Tents can set up a furnished bell tent on a Compton Farm pitch for glampers.
