The Chequers Inn is a family-run country pub on the Niton road just outside Rookley, right in the middle of the Island. It has a small touring area of 12 pitches a couple of minutes' walk from the pub, each with water and electric hook-up, aimed at motorhomes, campervans and caravans rather than tents.

There is no shower block: facilities are portable toilets, a water supply and waste disposal, plus the pub's own toilets while it is open. The pub serves breakfast, lunch and dinner every day and has a big beer garden and children's play area. The owners also offer 'stable and stay' breaks with horse stabling, and the surrounding farmland has plenty of off-road riding.
