Mill Heights Campsite

Back-to-basics, year-round field next to Calbourne Water Mill with distant sea views, dark skies and no marked pitches or hook-ups.

  • Dogs welcome
  • Campfires

Mill Heights is a quiet 2.5-acre grass field above Calbourne Water Mill, one of the oldest working mills in the country, with its cafe and mini golf next door. There are no marked pitches and no electric, so it suits campers who are happy to be self-sufficient; tents, caravans, campervans, motorhomes and roof-top tents are all welcome. It is registered as a Camping and Caravanning Club Certificated Site and is also bookable through Pitchup.

Facilities are simple: two toilets, a sink, a camping shower, a water standpipe and a chemical disposal point. In return you get views over open countryside to the sea, big sunsets and very little light pollution. A footpath next to the field leads into Calbourne village and on to Brighstone Forest and Mottistone Down, the bus to Newport, Yarmouth and Freshwater runs past, and The Sun pub is about 15 minutes' walk.

  • Next to historic Calbourne Water Mill and its cafe
  • Open all year with dark skies and sunsets
  • Raised campfires and BBQs allowed
  • Footpath to Brighstone Forest and Mottistone Down
