The Chale Show is on Saturday 7 and Sunday 8 August 2027, open 10am to 5pm each day, at Chale Recreation Ground on the Military Road (A3055), PO38 2JE. The ground sits about a third of a mile west of the Chale church junction and about a mile west of Blackgang Chine, high above the south-west coast.
It is a proper country show that started as a village garden show in 1920 and has been on this field since 1998. It has no camping of its own, but there are small sites in the lanes around Chale, Atherfield and Niton within a few kilometres. Early August is the height of the school holidays and the south-west sites are small, so book as soon as you know you are going.

The horticultural marquee is the heart of it, with more than 1,500 entries of fruit, veg, flowers, crafts and baking, all on display after judging. The main arena has performance horses, vintage vehicles, marching bands and magicians, and live bands play on the Sunflower Music Stage. There are craft and antiques marquees, a food pavilion, fairground rides, a kids' zone, vintage and steam vehicles and a dog show.
Dogs are welcome on a lead, which suits anyone at a dog-friendly campsite. Wheelchairs and mobility scooters are welcome, but the field can get rough after rain.
Tickets and parking
Tickets are for one day only. They are cheaper online than at the gate, and the gate takes cash, cards and contactless. In 2024 a day ticket was £15 at the gate or £14 online, and under-16s went free. Online sales for 2027 had not opened when we checked. There is no cash machine on the showground, so bring cash from Newport or Ventnor if you want it for the stalls.
Parking on the showground is free all weekend. The overflow car park is uneven, and there is limited disabled parking near the ticket entrance. Set the satnav for PO38 2JE, and take care on the Military Road, which runs close to the cliff edge here.
Getting there without the car
Southern Vectis route 6 runs from Newport through Chillerton to Chale, Blackgang, Niton, Whitwell and Ventnor. It stops at Chale church, a short walk from the showground. It is one of the Island's quieter routes, roughly every two hours, so check the times before you set off.
The Isle of Wight Coastal Path runs along the cliffs past Chale, so campers at Atherfield can walk in along the coast. From Niton it is about 3 km by road over the hill.
Making a weekend of it
Blackgang Chine is the next stop east on the Military Road, and St Catherine's Down above Chale gives a big view over the bay. The Garlic Festival at Newchurch is usually two weeks later.
