The Fringe falls in the summer dog season, so plan your walks. From 1 May to 30 September, dogs are banned from parts of Ventnor beach. Two nearby beaches stay open to dogs all year: Steephill Cove, a walk west along the coast path, and Bonchurch to the east.
Ventnor Botanic Garden, on the way into town from St Lawrence and a Fringe venue, welcomes dogs on a lead and puts out water bowls. The Fringe does not publish a dog policy for its shows, so ask the venue before you bring a dog into a tent or hall.
Some sites near Ventnor are unusually generous. Kingates Farm lets up to two adult dogs stay free in its shepherd's hut and has a warm outdoor dog shower. Sibbecks Farm charges £25 a dog for its safari tents.
