Family campsites near the Island Steam Fair, Isle of Wight

Of the 12 campsites within 2.2 miles of the Island Steam Fair, 9 are good for families.

Children do well out of the fair. In 2026 up to three children aged 5 to 17 went free with each full-price adult, and under-5s were free anyway. The ticket includes unlimited steam train rides, and there is a traditional fairground with gallopers. Havenstreet also has a play park, the Train Story Discovery Centre, cafés and a picnic area.

With young children, a site you can walk back to makes the day easier. Wild Oak Farm is about 18 minutes from the station along Station Road, and children can meet the farm's Belted Galloway cattle. It has no showers, though. For proper facilities and a play area, Kite Hill Farm is a short drive away, with under-5s free and children at £6 a night in 2026.

If you want a bit more comfort, the Garlic Farm yurts and Into the Woods both have play areas, and the Island Riding Centre can book riding lessons. See our camping with kids guide.
