Of the 14 campsites within 1.5 miles of the Isle of Wight Scooter Rally, 9 are good for families.
Sandown Airport on rally weekend is loud and busy until late, with bands on the Friday and Saturday nights, and VFM publishes no age rules for the rally camp, so ask before you bring children. Families are better off at a site nearby. On the Sunday afternoon you can watch the ride-out come through Sandown High Street or along the Yaverland road.
The family sites here split into two kinds. Landguard and Lower Hyde at Shanklin are Parkdean holiday parks with indoor and outdoor pools and entertainment every evening, and guests at one can use the other's facilities. Ninham is the opposite: no bar, no groups, quiet from 9pm, and a heated outdoor pool you book in daily slots, with under-16s supervised. Bank holiday weekend is peak season, so book early.
