Of the 14 campsites within 1.5 miles of the Isle of Wight Scooter Rally, 10 take dogs.
VFM publishes no dog policy for the rally camp, so ask the organisers before you bring a dog to Sandown Airport. Think about the noise too: bands play on the Friday and Saturday nights, and thousands of two-strokes come and go all weekend.
Away from the airport, watch the beach rules. From 1 May to 30 September, dogs are banned from marked zones of Sandown, Shanklin and Yaverland beaches, which covers rally weekend, but you can walk them all year on the beach east of the Yaverland car park. Borthwood Copse, a National Trust wood, is next to Borthwood Caravans. One trap: Ninham Country Holidays does not take dogs during the main summer school holidays, which normally include rally weekend. More in our camping with dogs guide.
