Tent camping near the Isle of Wight Challenge, Isle of Wight

Of the 11 campsites within 2.8 miles of the Isle of Wight Challenge, 4 take tents.

Most walkers bring a tent to basecamp. In 2027 a small self-pitch for a low tent with two or three people is £25 a night, and a large pitch for a taller tent and four or more is £35, with hot showers, changing rooms and hot drinks for all campers. It is early May on the south-west coast, so pack for a cold, windy night.

If you would rather camp somewhere quieter, Paradise Cottage is about 10 minutes' walk from the start. Camp Corve's woodland glade is more sheltered, but tents only, with no awnings, gazebos or pup tents, and cars stay in the farmyard. Chine Farm opens on 1 May, so it only covers the Saturday night. Kingston Smallholding is closed until the summer holidays. Our guide to taking a tent on the ferry covers coming as a foot passenger with the Red Jet and the £20 shuttle.
