Children can take part in some of the challenge. The Medina 10 mile route is billed as family friendly, and in 2027 Ultra Challenge gives 50% off for ages 16 and under, though minimum ages apply. For families supporting a walker, the long day at Chale is easier with something else to do.
Blackgang Chine theme park is under 2 km from the basecamp, and in 2026 its season opened in March, with free parking and a free return within seven days on every ticket. Sibbecks Farm has a rainy-day play barn with table tennis and scooters.
