Campsites near the Isle of Wight Challenge where you can have a campfire, Isle of Wight

Of the 11 campsites within 2.8 miles of the Isle of Wight Challenge, 6 allow campfires in some form.

Don't plan on a fire at basecamp. Ultra Challenge bans gas canisters, petrol cookers and portable or disposable BBQs at its venues, and any stove must be raised at least 30cm off the ground and never used in a tent. That makes basecamp a place to eat the pre-booked Friday hot dinner and sleep, not to cook.

Off-site, every fire near Chale is in a fire pit, and most come with the glamping. Camp Corve has a shared fire circle with logs, plus fire pits to hire after a staff safety briefing. Warren Hill Camp has two shared fire pits, one by the pond and one in the woods. One catch for the May bank holiday: Kingston Smallholding, with free firewood and a fire pit on every pitch, only opens for about four weeks in the summer holidays, so it is closed on challenge weekend. More in our campfires and BBQs guide.
