Of the 11 campsites within 1.7 miles of the Isle of Wight Garlic Festival, 6 take tents.
Tents are the simplest way to do the Garlic Festival on foot. Southland is about 15 minutes' walk away, and the farm fields around Queen's Bower are under a kilometre, but Southland has only four tent pitches, so book those early. Dairymans Daughter Cottage at Hale Common is a members' site about a mile away that takes up to ten tents as well as vans, with a flushing toilet but no showers listed.
If you are coming without a car, route 8 between Newport, Sandown and Ryde stops right outside the main gates, and it passes Apse Heath for the Old Barn and Willow Brook. With bikes, the Red Squirrel Trail runs on the old railway between Newport and Sandown, and the festival advises riding the main road for the last mile. Bike racks are provided.
