ViewOf the 9 campsites within 3.1 miles of Fort Victoria, 4 allow campfires in some form.
Fort Victoria is one of the few places on the island with barbecues laid on. The council has put three in the country park, free for families or small groups of up to 12. They cannot be booked, so you may have to share or wait your turn, and larger parties need a booking authorised by the council. In dry spells they can be shut: the council closed them in August 2022, during a hosepipe ban.
Use the fixed barbecues rather than bringing a disposable one. The council strongly advises against disposables on beaches and in parks, and asks that any barbecue is cold and taken home, not left in a bin.
For a fire at camp, Lucketts Farm at Bouldnor is listed by Pitchup and ukcampsite as allowing fires on the pitch, though it publishes no rules of its own, so ask when you book. Stoats Farm hires out pits with a Swedish log, each Tapnell Farm glamping unit has its own fire pit with logs, and Glamping The Wight Way's lodges have Kadai fire bowls. Heathfield Farm, the nearest site with pitches, allows no fire pits. See the campfires and BBQs guide.
