ViewOf the 14 campsites within 3.7 miles of the Yarmouth ferry terminal, 5 allow campfires in some form.
Off the boat, the nearest proper campfire is in the woods at Camp Wight on Ningwood Hill, about an hour's walk or a short route 7 ride from Yarmouth. Fires are never on the ground: you rent one of the site's fire pits, made from an upcycled washing machine drum on a steel wheel, for £5 a night in 2026, and the owners bring a basket of wood with kindling and firelighters each day. They allow fires except in extreme drought.
Lucketts Farm at Bouldnor, about 40 minutes' walk east of the terminal, is listed as allowing fires on the pitch, but the owners publish no rules, so ask when you book. Stoats Farm hires out pits with a Swedish log, and each glamping unit at Tapnell Farm comes with a fire pit and logs.
Plan stove gas before you travel: Wightlink treats gas bottles and canisters as restricted goods and asks you to call its restricted goods office at least 24 hours before sailing. For a cook-out near the ramp, Fort Victoria, about 2km west, has three free council barbecues. See the campfires and BBQs guide.
