Motorhome and campervan sites near the Needles, Isle of Wight

Of the 7 campsites within 4.3 miles of the Needles, 3 take motorhomes or campervans.

A motorhome can get as close as Alum Bay. The Needles Landmark Attraction car park charged camper vans £10.00 for all-day parking from 2 April to 30 October 2026, and parking is free outside those dates. Beyond it there is no public vehicle access to the Old Battery: walk the tarmac road, 15 to 20 minutes, or take the open-top Needles Breezer, which ran from 23 March to 1 November in 2026.

Many people leave the van on the pitch. Route 7 runs through Freshwater and Totland to Alum Bay about every 30 minutes, and the footpath from Stoats Farm goes straight up onto Tennyson Down. Stoats does not let you charge an electric vehicle from a hook-up; it has four chargers in the car park.

For the crossing, Wightlink classes motorhomes over 5m as low (up to 2.24m high) or high (up to 4.2m), measured with bikes and boxes. Its Motorhome Special is not valid from 07:55 to 14:59 Monday to Saturday, and the Caravan and Motorhome Club says members save up to 50% on Economy Motorhome fares. See the motorhome guide.
