Touring caravan sites near the Needles, Isle of Wight

Of the 7 campsites within 4.3 miles of the Needles, 3 take touring caravans.

Towing to the Needles means unhitching first. There is no public vehicle access to the Old Battery, and the Alum Bay car park at the Landmark Attraction charged £7.00 a day for a car from 2 April to 30 October 2026, free outside those dates. Once the caravan is pitched the run from Totland or Freshwater is short, and from Stoats Farm you can leave the car too and walk along Tennyson Down in about an hour.

The nearest port is Yarmouth, about 5 miles from the Needles. Wightlink measures the whole outfit, tow bar and bike rack included, and charges the caravan on top of the car fare. A towed caravan cannot be booked online on its own, and vehicles with trailers cannot buy Priority Boarding. Heathfield Farm quotes caravan crossings by phone once you give it the full length and height.

Driving west off the boat you cross the Yar swing bridge. Island Roads opens it for boats at fixed times through the summer, about ten minutes at a time, so a short queue is possible. See the touring caravan guide.
