Family campsites near the Needles, Isle of Wight

Of the 7 campsites within 4.3 miles of the Needles, 6 are good for families.

For most children the chairlift is the highlight. Entry to the Needles Landmark Attraction is free and you pay per ride; in 2026 a chairlift return cost £11 for an adult and £8 for a child, two people to a chair. If anyone is nervous, the 185 steps reach the same coloured sands.

The National Trust's Old Battery, the Victorian fort at the tip of the headland, sold a 2026 family ticket for two adults and up to three children at £26.20 with Gift Aid, with under-5s free. It has toilets with baby changing in the accessible toilet, a tea room and a few steep, uneven slopes inside that can be avoided. The 15 to 20 minute approach from Alum Bay is a tarmac road, so a pushchair copes; the Breezer bus is the alternative.

On a wet day, Dimbola at Freshwater Bay charged £1.70 for children aged 5 to 10 in 2026, and Tapnell Farm Park, about 3 miles from Stoats Farm, has indoor play. See camping with kids.
