You cannot take a caravan on the Red Jet, which is foot passengers only. Caravans cross on Red Funnel's car ferry to East Cowes or with Wightlink, and the Floating Bridge between East and West Cowes does not take them, so for the Cowes side you tow round through Newport. From 28 September 2026, for about six months with a break at Christmas, Island Roads is replacing the bearings on the Medina Way bridge in Newport. One lane on each carriageway is closed for about five weeks at a time, with some overnight closures.
The Red Jet helps the rest of the party. One driver can tow over on the car ferry while everyone else takes the 28-minute Red Jet, or you can leave the caravan on its pitch and pop over to Southampton for the day.
