The farm field at Compton Farm is tucked into a chalk valley off the cliff top, with pitches in a single line along a hedge, every one facing the meadow. It is the only tent pitch within a short walk of the sand, about a quarter of a mile.
Walkers can come over the downs. From Stoats Farm at Totland, footpaths climb Tennyson Down to Freshwater Bay, then the coast path crosses Afton Down to Compton: about 5km, so allow an hour and a half each way with the climbs. From Chapelfurlong Farm at Hulverstone, Brook beach is about 25 minutes on foot.
