Dog friendly campsites near Compton Bay, Isle of Wight

Of the 9 campsites within 3.1 miles of Compton Bay, 7 take dogs.

Compton is split in two for dogs. Between Hanover Point and Brook Chine they can go on the beach all year. West of the Compton Bay car park, towards Freshwater, they are banned from 15 May to 15 September. Brook Bay, round the point, is on the council's 2026 list of beaches open to dogs all year, while Freshwater Bay has council restrictions from 1 May to 30 September.

The downs above are National Trust land, and Brook and Compton Downs have been grazed by a free-ranging herd of Galloway cattle since the 1940s. The Trust asks for a short lead around sheep, but if cattle come towards you, it advises letting the dog off and calling it back when it is safe. Keep well back from the cliff edge, which is crumbling along this stretch.

Most nearby sites take dogs. Compton Farm lets them stay free on the campsite, though only some of its caravans take them. Stoats Farm has a fenced Bark Park. More in camping with dogs.
