Dog friendly campsites near Colwell Bay, Isle of Wight

Of the 7 campsites within 2.5 miles of Colwell Bay, 4 take dogs.

Colwell is split down the middle for dogs. From 1 May to 30 September the beach west of the slipway, towards Warden Point, is closed to dogs under the council's order. The stretch east of the slipway, towards Fort Victoria, is open to them all year, and outside those months the whole bay is open.

Two easy walks avoid the summer rule. Totland Bay, along the flat sea wall to the south, has no seasonal ban at all. Fort Victoria's beach, about 1.5km north on the coast path, has no dog restrictions at any time of year, and its woodland makes a longer outing; see dog-friendly sites near Fort Victoria. Across the island dogs must be on leads on roads, pavements and verges, which includes Colwell Chine Road.

Linstone Chine, the bungalows above the bay, takes no pets apart from assistance dogs, so it is not on this list. See camping with dogs.
