Heathfield Farm is the caravan site for Colwell. It is about 600m from the slipway, so once the van is pitched the car can stay put and the walk down Colwell Chine Road takes 10 to 15 minutes. That saves the council car park, which charged £12.50 for 6 to 10 hours in 2026. The catch is the season: Heathfield opened from 9 May to 19 September in 2026, and takes no arrivals after 7.30pm.
Early and late in the year, Stoats Farm at Totland is open from March to October, about 40 minutes' walk from Colwell along the Totland sea wall.
From the Lymington boat the beach is a few minutes' drive west, over the Yar swing bridge, which Island Roads opens for boats at fixed times in summer. Wightlink charges the towed caravan on top of the car fare, measured with tow bar and bikes, and it cannot be booked online on its own. Heathfield quotes caravan crossings by phone when you give it the full length and height.
