Red Funnel's car ferries carry dogs free. On Red Eagle, Red Osprey and Red Falcon there is a pet lounge, the North Lounge on deck A, and dogs can go on the outer decks A and AA, which get very hot in summer. If your dog stays in the car, Red Funnel reckons on about 45 minutes alone, so leave air and water.
Off the ramp, East Cowes beach has a dog exclusion zone from 1 May to 30 September, and dogs must be on a lead on roads and pavements across the island. Osborne, about 25 minutes' walk away, lets dogs into its grounds and formal gardens on a short lead, but only assistance dogs into the house or onto the beach.
