Whitecliff Bay Holiday Park is the only place to pitch a tent above the bay. Its grass field opens in summer, July and August in 2026, with big non-electric pitches of about 10m by 8m, one unit per pitch, check-in from 11am and check-out by 10am. The concrete paths to the beach are about 30 degrees and no good for trolleys or pushchairs, so pack light for the sand.
Forelands Pop-Up, at the end of Forelands Field Road in Bembridge, is the nearest alternative, about a minute from the shore. It has a food trailer and portaloos but no showers. Raised fire pits and barbecues are allowed, with fire buckets around the field, and it is about 20 to 25 minutes' walk along the lanes to the Whitecliff Bay park.
Walkers can follow the coastal path over Culver Down towards Sandown, or the National Trust's 2.8-mile Circumnavigate Culver trail. Route 8 has stops near Bembridge Airport called Whitecliff Bay. See taking a tent on the ferry.
