Only assistance dogs may go into the house, the Swiss Cottage, the café, the Victoria Hall Restaurant, the play areas and onto the beach, and dogs must keep out of the woodland by the beach, Pier Road and any area marked private. They can sit with you at the outdoor tables of the café, restaurant and beach café.
English Heritage says dogs must never be left alone on a visit, including while you tour the house, so take turns: one of you goes in while the other walks the gardens. Waverley Park, the nearest site, has the same rule, so plan a day out with the dog in mind.
