Blackgang Chine's car park is free and you can stay as long as you like while you visit, so a day at the park in a motorhome is simple. The free viewpoint car park on the hill above is the start of the walks to St Catherine's Oratory. For the night you need a pitch: wild camping is not allowed on the island.
Motorhome pitches here are few. Downsview CL at Bierley has five level, serviced hardstandings and a service point for Caravan and Motorhome Club members, adults only. Camp Corve has two motorhome pitches with optional 16 amp hook-up at £5 a night, and Paradise Cottage near Chale has grass pitches with hook-up for Camping and Caravanning Club members.
Coming along the Military Road, a high-sided van will feel a strong south-westerly on the cliff top between Freshwater Bay and Chale. East of Niton, Undercliff Drive has been closed since 2014, so head inland through Whitwell for Ventnor. The motorhome guide has more on the roads.
